Pending a psych evaluation from Suban, I'd entertain the idea...

Montreal won't deal Subban.

We should be looking at John Carlson and Alzner.

Belanger was actually creating offensive chances out there. Great to see.

I think his psycho-element is part of the charm. Oilers still a little too passive when teams start pushing them around.

I was a big fan of when the Oilers had Dave Manson, just so you know. Sometimes a little insanity helps.

Mmmmm... I haven't been keen on the idea of dealing PK in the past but this is interesting.. I love the way he plays, his enthusiasm, and his character but it'd be hard to pass on another top 5 pick this year. The prospect of getting someone like Grigorenko AND Ryan Murray is very intriguing to me, even if it does mean giving up on PK.. Maybe if you throw Paajarvi in along with the pick I'd do it.

I like the direction this team is going. Sure, there are a lot of ups & downs, but this team is pretty damn impressive. I really can't believe just how good Jeff Petry has become. I'm hoping he can keep his spark & build on it, and that this isn't just an apparition.

As far as dealing our 1st round pick in 2012 for PK Subban. While he would definitely improve our blueline & could be a big part of our future, I think there are just too many negatives about his personality that keep coming through. Don't know if we need this on our team. If I'm the GM (and I'm obviously not), I'd hold on to the pick again this year & draft the best d-man available. I don't see us drafting lower than 3rd overall this year, just can't see it. I'm really hoping we can pick Ryan Murray. ***Fingers crossed***

No dice...

And sorry, Richard... I tried to delete some of those repeat comments, but my computer is being an bumhole, and the site won't let me. Oh and I like his insanity too... I just want him to fail the psych evaluation, before we commit to it.

Why not? the guy obviously has talent and stuff but he also only has 8 points in 39 games this year.. now I haven't watched a lot of oiler games but that looks to me like he might need a change of scenery to jumpstart him a little.

I am not so sure that adding 2 players, even with 1 being a goalie will help you come close to the Nucks. I mean Oil are Miles away from that as one day RNH,Hall and Eberle could be better than the Sedins and Kelser, but right now they aren't.

Columbus proved you cant just add 2 players and become drastically better ( granted this is a slightly flawed arguement)

Adding those 2 players though could give you a shot a 8th.

Edm is currently 15th in offense. So with P.K, a year to grow and maybe some luck with your teams players I could see that going up to 12th (lets not go to crazy here, there are still many teams much better than the oilers in all facets.)

The problem is that the Oil are 24th in goals allowed. I dont think P.K. and Harding are your answer for that. Defense is a 5 man effort and it will take a few years for your all star rookie players to get better in their own zone.

Even if we are extremely optimistic and say the oil improve to 11th best offense and 19th best D (which is fairly unlikely and a bit of a strech) I think they are only fighting for 8th and only make it with good special teams, more specifically a better PK.

So it could happen but I doubt that an average goalie and another Dman are going to make any drastic changes

I also don't think MTL could trade P.k. unless it was for a top 3 pick IMO. You are trading a proven player for a prospect and who knows how that could end up. Granted top 3 are about as sure fire as they can come and the trade value might be pretty close, I don't see this as being anything else but a wash from MTL.

So unless MTL really wants to get rid of him its more than likely not going to happen.

Fun thought though

A 1st round pick for P.K. Subban won´t do it..
The guy is bound to become one of the top 3 point producing D´s for the coming 10 years.. ánd has a winning mentality (something that is lacking on the biggest part of the rest of the Montreal team - it seems Subban isn´t the problem, but the attitude of the other players (with exception of Price, maybe 2-3 more..)).

That change of scenery is OKC to develop, not a trade to Mtl.

Top 5 pick and PRV is much to much of an overpayment.

Its definitely tempting.. If I got this offer as a GM I would be thinking hard about it... Subban seems to rub a lot of players in montreal the wrong way but at the same time it seems that the goalie that is saving montreals butt likes subban. Add that to the fact that your future captain endorsed him and you have to view Subban as part of the core in montreal...

On the other hand Having two top defencemen come into the league at the same time would be great.. Rienhart and Murrey with Bealeau and Tinardi is a pretty good prospect pool on the back end and a fairly large defence to which would fit the trend that Montreal seems to be building...

I think though that Subban, 1st and Gomez/Gionta (for salary reason only) and probably a 2nd tier prospect or pick will go to Columbus for Nash though....

I think the Oilers can get a much better defenceman in the top 5 than Subban. I don't see this deal working out for them in the ling run.

Save your pick. Let Montreal deal with him.

2 points to mention:
1) At 22 years old, why would the Habs deal PK to rebuild ...he is the type of player you build around - you don't toss him out with the bathwater and roll the dice on a pick when you have a proven player with PK's upside and you are getting a high first round pick anyway. Not going to happen.

2)Dealing a 2nd round pick and Omark for a player who will hit the open market after 20 something games is ludicrous ....especially with Edmontons track record of attracting UFAs - I know the picture is more attractive now than a few years ago but still that's too risky

Cheers!

Horrible idea richard. We dont need a guy like that fighting his own teammates in practice. We want guys that are team players.
